2017 Randleman Football Preview

Kaitlyn Mullins

Tiger Nation better get ready because football season is just two weeks away and the Tigers are on the prowl! We stopped by Randleman’s football practice on Thursday to see how the Tigers were getting ready.

Head Coach Shane Handy had the Tigers in tip-top shape during Thursday’s practice and the Tigers look to be a tough opponent when PAC-7 play starts. The conference adds Jordan-Matthews this season which gives the Tigers and extra conference opponent to face. Randleman has not faced the Jets since the 2011 season where they fell 8-7. The Tigers have been preparing since January for the 2017 season and the coaching staff started putting the pieces together during spring football. Team members spent all summer going to individual workouts and regulated works to get ready for the season.

The team is looking good and Coach Handy had nothing but praise for his team, “We feel great about the group of young men we have.” The senior class will be key for the Tigers this season and with them leading the way Coach Handy feels the Tigers will have a good season. Seniors Tanner McGee, Tyson Green, Seth Campbell, Nick Holder, Levi Kennedy, and Cooper Sterling should have a big impact this season. McGee, Sterling, and Trey Ross will lead the offense, while Kennedy, Campbell, Holder, and Umar Abdul Matin will anchor the defense. Green will be a threat on both sides of the ball as a wide receiver and free safety.
