Blue Comets Are Young But Talented

Football practice has started and the Blue Comets are ready for action.  Coach Chuck Henderson said, "We have some very talented players.  I would like to have a little more depth, but I expect to have a very good season."

Asheboro graduated some very good players off last year's team, but they are not void of talent this year.  The Blue Comets will have some new faces at a lot of positions, and some new energy.  This team is fairly young, but has some seniors in some key positions. (picture gallery)

Senior Christian Trogdon is likely to get most of the carries for this team.  He is a returning MPC All-Conference player, and rushed for over 1200 yards last year.  The offensive line is anchored by some very impressive players, including junior Petey Johnson who is capable of being one of the best offensive linemen in the area.

On defense, the Blue Comets will have lots of speed.  Expect JT Harper to make a lot of tackles.  Jake Galloway has worked very hard in the weight room in the off-season, and should have a very good year from his defensive line position.

We will have a more in-depth preview of the team in the next couple of days.  MyRandolphSports.com will also release their picks for the pre-season All-County Team.  Look for that in the coming days also.

Here are some pictures from a early season practice.
