The Cougars came out striking first, on a 17 yard TD run by FB Zach Greene. The Cougars defense held the Patriots to no points in the 1st half, and took a 7-0 lead into the half.
The Cougars struck again in the 3rd quarter with a 45 yard run by RB Darius Martin to put the Cougars up 14-0. The Patriots finally got momentum late in the 4th quarter, as a ball ricocheted off the Cougar receiver into the Patriots hand for the interception deep in scoring territory.
The Patriots scored on a deflected pass from Steadman Rush to cut the lead to 14-6, but failed on a 2 pont conversion. Eventually the Cougars took a knee a couple times to end the game.
The leading rusher for the Cougars were RB Darius Martin with 15 carries for 97 yards 1 touchdown, RB Jon Bullins had 56 yards on 10 carries, RB Brandon Osborne had 6 carries for 46 yards & FB Zach Greene had 5 carries for 35 yards & 1 TD.
QB Ryan Sineath was 3-8 for 25 yards with receptions coming from Brett Grimsley & Darius Martin. The Cougars play at home against Trinity next week.
