Middle School Softball: ATMS 5 SERMS 4

Archdale-Trinity kicked off their softball season by heading to SERMS to take on the Wildcats. The Bulldogs got off to a quick start scoring two runs in the 1st inning thanks to a Hailey Mince double, Hayley Williams drew a walk and then 3 consecutive singles by Kourtnie Blankenship, Kelli Wagner and Hannah Nicholson. SERMS was able to counter by also putting a run on the board. McNeil led off the game reaching on an error and was able to cross home plate when Carter hit a single to right field.
The Bulldogs added two more runs in the 4th inning when Hannah Nicholson and Jenna Walden scored on a Camie Marion double to increase their lead to 4 to 1. The Wildcats held them scoreless in the 5th, but gave up a run to the Bulldogs in the 7th when Abby Giles scored on a wild pitch.
The Wildcats went into the bottom of the 7th losing 5 to 1, but they were determined to overcome the deficit and come away with a win. Carter, Maness and Coble were able to score for the SERMS, but they came up one run short.
Archdale-Trinity defeated the Wildcats by the score of 5 to 4. Camie Marion was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs giving up just 3 hits in 7 innings. The Bulldogs will be at home on Thursday against NERMS. SERMS will travel to North Asheboro to take on the Comets on Thursday.
