SWRMS tops UMS in middle school softball......

The Lady Cougars of Southwestern Randolph (2-0) made the trip over to Uwharrie Middle School (1-1) Thursday afternoon for a battle on the diamond.

It was the Cougars solid defense and strong pitching of Katie McNeil that stopped the offensive powered Lady Timberwolves. The Cougars were able to put up 5 runs offensively and were able to shut out Uwharrie making the final score 5-0.

Eighth grader Katie McNeil recorded 6 strikeouts and only give up a few hits on the night. Megan Hardin went 2-3 for the Cougars and scored a run. Macy George had a sacrifice fly for an RBI for the Cougars as well.

For the Timberwolves Makayla Hurley led the way going 2-3 with a double and a single. Both teams will be in action on Tuesday of next week.
