Middle School Softball: A-TMS-7 Uwharrie-6

Archdale-Trinity and Uwharrie went toe to toe tonight in a great game that was decided in the last inning. Both teams hit the ball well and made few mistakes on defense.

The Timberwolves put up the first run of the game in the top of the 1st inning when Lowe scored after reaching on a single. The Bulldogs answered with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the inning when Hailey Mince hit a 2-run homerun.
UMS put 2 more runs on the board in the 2nd inning when Springer and Lowe scored. A-TMS regained the lead in the bottom of the 2nd with a run by Kirsten Hunt, who reached on a walk and a run by Jenna Walden, who reached on an error.
The Bulldogs kept their 2 runs per inning trend in the 3rd inning with runs by Kournie Blankenship and Hayley Williams to increase their lead to 6-3. The Timberwolves added a run in the 4th when Lamb hit a homerun.
Uwharrie was in a position where they had to score in the 7th inning when they found themselves trailing 6-4. They were able to tie the game at 6 runs each with runs by Hurley and Freeman and put the pressure on Archdale-Trinity.
A-TMS had been hitting the ball well all game long, and it was no different in the bottom of the 7th inning. Hailey Mince led the inning off with a double. Mince scored the game winning run on a RBI single by Kelli Wagner. Archdale-Trinity defeated Uwharrie 7-6.
Camie Marion was the winning pitcher for Archdale-Trinity.
The Bulldogs will take on the Comets of South Asheboro at home this Tuesday. Uwharrie will travel to North Asheboro.
