Wheatmore Splits with Williams in Volleyball

Wheatmore hosted the tough Williams Bulldogs tonight in a non-conference Volleyball match-up. The JV girls took to the court first and it was obvious from the start that this was going to be a good one. The first set was neck and neck the entire way, with Wheatmore eventually getting the win, 26-24.
The second set went slightly better for the Warriors and they came away with a 25-19 victory to win the match 2-0.

The Varsity match was also hard fought but the Bulldogs of Williams was able to prevail, 3 sets to 1. Winning the first set despite a late surge by the Warriors by a score of 25-22 Williams.
The Warriors kept their momentum in the second game and pulled out a victory over the Bulldogs by a score of 25-21 Wheatmore.
The young Warriors failed to offer much of a challenge the third game falling to the Bulldogs by a final of 25-18 Williams.
The fourth set started with the Bulldogs tearing out to a 12-0 lead on solid play and a lot of errors on the Warrior side of the court. The Warriors finally settled down and fought their way back to within 5 at 18-13, but the Bulldogs were able to regain control and won the final set 25-19.

Casey Hawkins - 5 kills, 4 digs, 14 service points and 3 aces
Davey Albertson - 7 kills and 6 blocks
Allie Grubb - 6 kills and 5 blocks
Taylor Rogers - 8 digs and 12 service points
The 16-3 Warriors will play host to the conference rival Bulldogs from Trinity in an attempt to remain undefeated in the Pac 6 Conference.
