SWRMS Softball Downs Uwharrie

Southwestern Randolph Middle School defeated Uwharrie Middle School today in softball by a score 3-1. Both teams played great defense the entire game and both pitchers pitched great. SWRMS struck first in the bottom of the 1st inning posting 1 run by Amber Clapp. Then the cougars score 2 more in the 6th inning with a double from Mary Adkins. UMS tried to rally in the7th inning with a couple of singles and scoring 1 run. Then SWRMS' defense tightened up and ended the game.
SWRMS was led by the pitching of Katie McNeill. She pitched 7 innings and allowed 1 run against a very good hitting UMS team. Amber Clapp led the offense going 2-4 with 2 singles and Mary Adkins had a huge double scoring 2 runs and putting the game out of reach.
SWRMS pushes it Record to 8-1 with big games left on its schedule. SWRMS travels to NAMS on Thursday. UMS hosts SERMS on Thursday.
