Randleman Wins Over A-TMS in Thrilling Fashion

Archdale-Trinity and Randleman faced off tonight under the lights for the final regular season game of the 2012 season. Both teams were hoping to pull off a win to give them a shot at playing in the 1 vs. 2 matchup next week for Super Tuesday.

Randleman won the coin toss and elected to set the tone by receiving the ball to open up the game.  The Tigers recovered the onsides kick and started around midfield. Bailey Welch started the drive off with a 25 yard pass to Gunner Gantt. Cole Wise ran the ball up the middle a couple of times to get the Tigers to the Bulldog 5 yard line. Welch then found Gantt in the end zone for a 5 yard touchdown pass with 5:26 remaining in the 1st quarter.

The Bulldog offense put together a scoring drive of their own by pounding the ball with running backs Chase Wooley and Hunter Mosley. The drive was capped off by a QB keeper when Johnny Wagner ran around the left side to tie the game up at 6.

A game changing moment for the Tigers came with 1:00 left in the second quarter when Gantt intercepted a pass on the Bulldog 27 yard line. Randleman drove down and converted on a 4th down and goal from the 5 with a pass from Welch to Gantt. Randleman took a 12-6 lead into the half.

The Tigers put 6 more points on the board with 1:28 remaining in the 3rd quarter with a 15 yard touchdown run by Wise to increase their lead to 18-6. The Bulldogs countered with a score of their own when Chase Wooley stretched out and found the goal line. Mosley scored on the 2-point conversion to make the score 18-14 with 5:42 remaining in the 4th quarter.

The Bulldog defense rose to the occasion and gave the ball back to their offense with a shot to win the game with just over 2 minutes remaining.  Wagner completed a pass to Mosley who ran down the middle of the field and scored from 80 yards out with 1:23 on the clock. Mosley ran the ball up the middle to convert the 2-point conversion and gave the Bulldogs a 22-18 lead.

The Tigers started their final drive on their own 35 yard line with just over a minute remaining. This is a situation that Randleman has become accustomed to with last minute wins in two other games this year. This is the time of the game when they focus on their team motto of “we don’t tap out.” They were determined to find a way to win, and Randleman Head Coach, Kevin Six, felt good about his chances with Bailey Welch running the offense.  The big play of the final drive was a 33 yard pass to Welch’s favorite target of the night, Gantt, down to the 10 yard line with 48 seconds remaining. The Tigers pounded the ball on 1st and 2nd down and got to the 3 yard line. Welch scored the game winning touchdown on a quarterback keeper to the right side with 26 seconds remaining.

Randleman went on to win the game 24-22. The Tigers finished the season 6-1 in a 3 way tie for 1st place and will hope they don't draw the short straw and miss out on playing in the 1 vs. 2 game next Tuesday. Archdale-Trinity finished with a record of 4-3 and will play in the 3 vs. 4 game on Super Tuesday.

THEY MUST NOT BE THE BEST TEAM I SEE THEY HAVE A LOSE TO SOMEBODY. AS FAR AS THE COACHES GO THEY DON`T KNOW THEIR BUTTS FROM A HOLE IN THE GROUND. IF EVERY TEAM HAD A COUPLE OF SHOULD BE FRESHMEN ON THEIR TEAM THEY WOULD BE GOOD TOO.
Wyse6

Okay Warrior.... speaking of Freshmen did you ever make it to be a Freshman? Because that would be loss, not lose. And yes they had one loss. Look at the numbers. This sight is to show support for our kids so go find another site to post your ignornat and rude comments.

Warrior do you realize you are speaking about middle schoolers? Our kids do great academically & they play some great ball. It's a requirement that they pass to play.

Done with you & your rambling!
