Asheboro gets their first win of season over Eastern Randolph 42-27

The Asheboro Blue Comets (1-3) got their first win of the season over cross county rivals, the Wildcats of Eastern Randolph (1-3), as they grabbed the non-conference win 42-27. Coach Gillispie and staff have stressed to their kids about finishing and that they did. James Collins had a great night with 20 carries for 89 yards and two scores while Asheboro QB, Cory Durrant, was 12 of 22 for 316 passing yards and four touchdown tosses. The night also included a 75 yard touchdown run by Nate Fisher and a 63 yard pass and run for a TD by Dayshawn Vaneaton.

On the Wildcat side quarterback Kody Wilder completed 19 of 35 passes for 250 yards and three passing touchdowns. Asheboro’s defense helped in the Comet win with a blocked punt as well as a fumble recovery in the first half by Michael Smith, and two interceptions, one by Khamisey Williams and another key interception late in the fourth by Carson Luck.
