Asheboro girls heading to the third round

After eeking out a win against White Oak High School last Wednesday the Blue Comet girls  found themselves in the second round hosting the #9 seed West Brunswick Trojans in hopes of moving to the third round of the 3A Mid-Piemont State Playoffs and they did just that, winning 4-1. Maybe it was the heat in last Wednesday’s game and the much cooler conditions Friday evening but Asheboro looked like a different team and spared no time in going up 3-0 in the first half and 1 more in the second with Emma Trotter scoring all 4 goals for the Comets. Earning assists on the evening were Madison Priest, Mattie McGee and Rachel Luna while Angie Pincus held down duties in the net.

The Comets (18-2-1) will play the winner of the #5 seed Corinth-Holder vs #13 Northwood.
