Asheboro readies for a new season!

The first regular season game of Asheboro’s 2017 season is just around the corner; a non-conference match-up, August 18th against Randleman on Randleman’s home turf.

This is a year of change for Asheboro as the Blue Comets come into this season with a new head coach; Coach Kevin Gillispie, former head coach at Greensboro’s Page High School. Not only has there been a head coaching change at Asheboro but the Comets have seen several changes to the assisting coach staff as well with only about 3 of the existing staff still remaining, in all about six coaches from last year have departed the Comet program.

The Comets lost a number of seniors last year so this year’s team would be considered young by most standards. As always, it usually comes down to the mix of kids and the ability to execute. There are a lot of unknowns but some more details will be unveiled as the Comets have a couple scrimmages next week, one being Wednesday against Ledford.

Good luck Comets; we’ll be following the action this year!!
