Asheboro wins RC track Meet

Teams from across the county met on Tuesday for the annual Randolph County Track Meet at Asheboro High School. Asheboro, Eastern Randolph, Providence Grove, Randleman, Southwestern Randolph, Trinity, and Wheatmore participated in the event. After everything was all said and done it would be the Asheboro Blue Comets who took home the victory on Tuesday. Both the boys and the girls’ teams for the Blue Comets earned top honors.

Notable Finishes

-Randleman freshman, Kylie Vaughn, took first place in both the girls’ discus and shot put
-Southwestern Randolph’s Courtni Jackson placed first in both the girls’ 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs
-Trinity’s Jessica McQueen raced her way to first place finishes in the girls’ 100-meter, 200-meter, and 400-meter dashes
-Eastern Randolph’s Amya Brooks earned first in both the girls’ high jump and triple jump before finishing second in the long jump

-Randleman’s Clayton Gentry had a spectacular day finishing first in the boys 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, high jump, and long jump
-Wheatmore’s Alex Trexler took home first place in the boys shot put and finished second in the discus
-Randleman’s Benjamin Garcia swept the boys 800-meter, 1600-meter, and 3200-meter runs
