Asheboro’s Sydney Cox signs with Auburn

Asheboro High School senior Sydney Cox signer her National Letter of Intent on Tuesday to continue her softball career at the collegiate level. Cox will suit up for the Auburn University Tigers next year.

In three seasons as a varsity starter, she a .424 career hitter with 78 hits, 42 RBIs, 75 runs scored, and a .516 on-base percentage. She also has six home runs and 32 stolen bases in her three seasons at Asheboro. Last season she led the Comets to a 13-7 finish with a .655 batting average and .730 on-base percentage.  She finished the season with 38 hits, 27 RBIs, 39 runs scored, five home runs, and 15 stolen bases. Cox has been a team captain for the Lady Blue Comets since her freshman season and is a three-time All-County, All-Conference, and All-District selection. She was selected as an All-State honoree in 2018 and 2019. She is a Top 100 recruit for the class of 2020 by both Extra Inning Softball and Flo Softball. Her hard work and determination can be seen both on and off the field as she has done everything necessary to achieve this goal.
