Lady Tigers Take Down SERMS

Monday afternoon the RMS Lady Tigers hosted the Wildcats of SERMS for a middle school matchup in basketball.

Putting the Wildcats on the board first was Bailey Herring as she quickly made a basket. Drawing the first foul of the game was Elizabeth York as she made one out of the two free throws. York drew back to back fouls as she tied the game at 2 all. Gracyn Hall stood under the basket as she put up a rebound scoring for the Tigers. RMS took a 5 point lead as York nailed a three. Taking the ball to the hoop with a layup was Logan Beaver. SERMS came back and tied the game at 7 all as Herring knocked down a three-pointer. Hall stepped to the foul line as she made one free throw. York finished out the first quarter as she made back to back baskets. After one complete quarter, RMS led 12-7.

Starting the second quarter on the foul line was York as she made both free throws with ease. Drawing a foul for the Wildcats was Addie Flinchum as she closed the gap 6 points. Zeira Watson knocked down a jumper as she made it a 10-14 game. Madelin Stockwell extended the Tiger lead back to 6. Kenly Whitaker and Watson cut the lead back to 3 points. Drawing another foul was Hall as she gave the Tigers 18 points. At halftime, RMS led 18-15.

Coming back from the half was York as she nailed another three-pointer for the Tigers. Behind her was Audra Petty as she too knocked down a three for RMS. Drawing back to back fouls for the Tigers were Hall and Petty. Beaver made a basket as she cut the lead to 10 points. Scoring the Tigers’ last basket was Petty as she hit a three. Beaver finished out the quarter for SERMS as she made it a 20-30 game.

Petty began the fourth quarter as she scored on a drive to the hoop. Scoring for the Wildcats was Watson. Hall knocked down a pair at the free throw line before draining back to back three-pointers to give the Tigers 40 points. Herring found an open shot as she made a basket for the Wildcats. Hall drew another foul as she made only one free throw. York swished a three and was fouled in the process. York easily made the extra point giving RMS 45 points. Ending the game on the foul line was Petty as she made both free throws. RMS took down SERMS 47-24.

Top scorers for the Tigers were Elizabeth York with 18 points, Gracyn Hall helped out with 15 points, and Audra Petty chipped in 12 points. For the Wildcats, Logan Beaver and Bailey Herring both had 7 points each.
