The regular season is officially over and teams now wait to see if their name shows up in the state playoffs brackets. The final game of the regular season in Randolph Count had a lot on the line as second place in the PAC-7 conference was up for grabs. The Wheatmore Warriors topped the Providence Grove Patriots to secure the second place spot. After dominating in the win, Wheatmore’s Alex Trexler is this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week!”

Trexler, a senior running back and linebacker for the Warriors, had a strong game in the Warriors 21-0 win over the Providence Grove Patriots on Friday. He got the job done on both sides of the ball just as he has done all season. On offense, Trexler picked up 116 rushing yards on 12 carries. He led the Warriors to multiple first downs on Friday. Defensively, he made three solo tackles and four assisted tackles for a total of seven tackles on the night. According to MaxPreps, Trexler has 693 rushing yards on 78 carries with six touchdowns on the season.

The Warriors will need Trexler as they head into the playoffs and he could very well be the difference maker in close games. Congratulations to Alex Trexler on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week!”
