Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” Alexa Altizer

Kaitlyn Mullins

With the regular season winding down for most teams, games are becoming fewer and fewer. Several teams officially closed out their regular seasons this week and one player lead her team to a strong finish. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Trinity’s Alexa Altizer.

Altizer, a senior caption for Lady Bulldogs’ soccer team, is a two-sport athlete for the Bulldogs. She plays both basketball and soccer. This spring she has been a dominate player on the soccer field for the Lady Bulldogs. They currently stand at 11-0 in conference play and 17-4 overall on the season and much of that is due to the leadership and hard work of their senior captain. This week she led her team to wins over Eastern Randolph and Southwestern Randolph. On Wednesday in the win over ER, Altizer picked up a hat trick after scoring 5 goals on the night with all of them coming in the first half of play. One night later she scored 3 goals in the Bulldogs’ 4-0 win over Southwestern Randolph.

On the season Altizer has scored 32 goals for 66 points in 19 games. She has recorded four hat tricks on the season including each of the last three games. Since the Bulldogs loss to Glenn back on March 23rd, Altizer has helped lead the Bulldogs on an 11-0 winning streak and they show no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Congratulations to Alexa Altizer on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week”!
