Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” Briley Brewer

Kaitlyn Mullins

With just a couple more weeks left in the high school volleyball regular season, teams and players have been working hard to put together a playoff-worthy resume. This past week one team added a pair of wins to their resume and one player helped lead the way. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Asheboro’s Briley Brewer.

Brewer, a junior, helped lead the Blue Comets to a 2-1 finish on the week. The Blue Comets dropped their first game of the week against Southern Alamance, but Brewer dished out 24 assists, 14 digs, and three kills in the five-set loss. One night later, Asheboro posted a three-set win over Eastern Randolph. Brewer finished with 17 assists, 14 digs, three kills, and three aces to give the Blue Comets the non-conference win. The Blue Comets got back into conference play on Thursday with a three-set win over Eastern Guilford. Brewer notched six aces, four kills, and one block in the win.

She has had a strong season so far for the Blue Comets and she will be key as they move through the rest of the season.

Congratulations to Briley Brewer on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week!”
