Stephanie King

After another great week in high school sports, it is time or this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week!” This week’s athlete of the week is a player who did the small things to lead his team to victory. This player left his mark all over the field and is deserving of this week’s honor. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Wheatmore’s, Camden Wishon.

Wishon, a senior outside linebacker, helped the Warriors to a huge 50-0 win over cross-town rival Trinity on Friday.  In Friday’s win, he got the job done on both sides of the ball for the Warriors. On defense, he forced multiple fumbles and came away with a fumble recovery for the Warriors. Wishon picked up several tackles on the night shooting off the line as a nightmare for the Trinity offense. He helped anchor the Warriors’ offensive line giving quarterback Nick Halo enough time to make a play with the ball. Wishon has had a strong senior season for the Warriors making 14 solo tackles and 30 total tackles.

During his three seasons as a member of the varsity football team, Wishon has made 70 solo tackles and 162 total tackles. He has also accumulated four interceptions, seven fumble recoveries, and one blocked field goal. Wishon will is a key gear in the Warriors’ football machine and he will need to keep up his strong play as the Warriors close out the rest of the season.

Congratulations to Camden Wishon on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week!”
