Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” Carson Elliott

Stephanie King

The playoffs are officially here for one fall sport and one team picked up a pair of wins this week to move into the third round. One athlete was spectacular in both games this week as she helped her team to victory. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Wheatmore’s Carson Elliott.

Elliott, a sophomore outside hitter, has been a strong presence on the court for the Lady Warriors all season. She is a two-year varsity starter for the Warriors. During the regular season, she recorded 271 kills, 66 aces, 231 serving points, and 260 digs in 82 sets. She kept her momentum going as the Warriors headed into postseason play. Elliott was crucial in the Warriors win over Trinity last week in the PAC-7 tournament championship game.

The Warriors kicked off the 2A State volleyball playoffs with a 3-1 win over East Davidson on Tuesday. Elliott led the Warriors with 17 kills, 11 digs, nine service points, and three aces. Two nights later, the Warriors earned a 3-0 match win over Midway in the second round of play. Elliott once again had a strong game for the Warriors as she notched 17 kills, ten digs, seven service points, and one ace. Wheatmore moves into the third round this afternoon and will need Elliott as they face off against Goldsboro.

Congratulations to Carson Elliott on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week!”
