After a cold and windy week of high school sports, it is time for this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week”! Teams and players braved the chilly temperatures to take the field in hops of leading their school to victory. One player took the field three times this week and led her team to a 2-1 record on the week. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Asheboro’s Emma Trotter.

Trotter, a junior, helped the Blue Comets to two wins this week during a three game stretch. On Monday, she led the Blue Comets to a 3-0 win over MPC foe Southeast Guilford. Trotter scored two goals in the win for a total of four points. Two nights later her and her Blue Comets put up a tough fight against the Southern Alamance Patriots, but fell 5-0. They turned this around on Thursday as the Comets topped county foe Randleman 4-1 on the road. Trotter notched a hat trick in the win with two of her three goals coming in the second half of play.

Last season, Trotter recorded 18 goals, 39 points, and 3 assists as the Blue Comets finished the 2017 season with an 18-3-1 overall record. She has 37 career goals and counting for the Comets. Asheboro is currently 1-1 in conference play and 3-1 overall on the season. They will need Trotter as they go through the rest of the season.

Congratulations to Asheboro’s Emma Trotter on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week”!
