Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” Ethan Reynolds

With another week of Randolph County sports in the books, it is time for another Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week”. This week’s athlete of the week had two monster games to lead his team to a 1-1 record on the week. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Southwestern Randolph’s Ethan Reynolds.

Reynolds, a senior forward for the Cougars, picked up where he left off last season and has been a crucial part to Southwestern Randolph’s offense so far, this season. On Tuesday, he led the Cougars past the Randleman Tigers on a last second bucket. The Cougars took the early lead, but after Randleman battled back in the fourth the game was tied at 56 all with three seconds remaining. Reynolds single-handedly blocked and stole the inbounds pass before going up for the easy lay-up giving the Cougars a 58-56 win. He led all scorers with 27 points.

One night later against Providence Grove, Reynolds poured in 33 points as the Cougars fell 64-61 to the Patriots. He scored back to back buckets late in the game to cut the lead to three, but there was not enough time to come back all the way. He has been a force in the post for the Cougars and his level of play makes it hard for opposing teams to guard him.

Congratulations to Ethan Reynolds on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week”!
