Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” Evan Taylor

After getting an extra week off because of weather, teams and players came out ready to kick start the second half of the season this week. The Providence Grove Patriots came out this week and picked up two PAC-7 Conference wins. They were led by this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” Evan Taylor.

Taylor is a junior center for the Patriots and has been a key part of the team the past few seasons. This past week he helped the Patriots pick up PAC-7 wins over Eastern Randolph and Jordan-Matthews. On Wednesday against the Wildcats, Taylor led the team with 20 points. Two nights later he poured in 24 points in Providence Grove’s win over Jordan-Matthews.

He is a threat all over the floor as he can score down low in the post or step behind the arc and drain the three ball. Taylor is a lock down defender and expert at drawing charges on opponents. In thirteen games this season he has drawn 23 charges. According to, Taylor ranks in the top five nationally in charges drawn. With him on the floor, the Patriots have a leader and will look to him the rest of the season to help them win games.
