Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” Jaquan Snipes

Stephanie King

It was another short week in Randolph County sports as the last remnants of Hurricane Florence moved through the area. Teams and players got back in action on Wednesday and closed out the week strong. Several key matchups on Friday saw players bring their A games and one player pushed his team to victory. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Randleman’s Jaquan Snipes.

Snipes, a junior, has been a strong running back for the Tigers for the last three seasons. This past week he led the Tigers to a key PAC-7 victory over the undefeated Wheatmore Warriors. He rushed for 131 yards on 26 carries with two rushing touchdowns. He also picked up 67 receiving yards on three receptions and one touchdown. Snipes picked up several first downs for the Tigers on their way to the end zone and was relentless in his pursuit to move the ball down the field.

On the season, Snipes has rushed for 640 yards and 10 touchdowns. He is averaging 6.3 yards per carry and 128 yards per game. He has picked up 100+ rushing yards in all but one game this season. Snipes is one of the many reasons the Tigers have been so successful this season. If he continues this level of play the Tigers will have a strong rest of the season.

Congratulations to Jaquan Snipes on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week”!
