Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” Jordan Hodges

Stephanie King

As we reach the middle of the high school baseball season, teams and players begin to figure out the right formula to help their team to victory. The Providence Grove Patriots put the right formula on the field twice this week as they picked up two wins in three games. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is PG’s, Jordan Hodges.

Hodges, a senior, helped lead the Patriots to a pair of wins over Trinity this past week. The wins over the Bulldogs bookended a loss to Southern Alamance on Wednesday. In the 6-5 win over Trinity on Tuesday, Hodges finished 2-for-3 at the plate with two triples, one run scored, and one RBI. One night later, he struggled hitting the ball against Southern Alamance but that did not stop him from score one of the Patriots’ five runs. Hodges got the job on Friday as the Patriots posted an 11-0 five-inning win over Trinity on the road. He finished 1-for-3 at the plate with one double, two runs scored and one RBI, but it was hit work on the pitching mound that made the difference. Hodges pitched all five innings giving up just two hits, two walks, and struck out seven. He picked off both walks to keep the Bulldogs from having a chance at scoring.

Congratulations to Jordan Hodges on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week!”
