Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” Kaleigh Craft

Rain and more rain put quite a damper on the last half of the week, but the teams and players who did get to play put on some great performances. One team went 3-1 on the week and one player was crucial in each game. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Wheatmore’s Kaleigh Craft.

Craft, a junior setter, has had a strong season for the Lady Warriors and has helped them to an 11-0 PAC-7 conference record and an 18-4 overall record. On Saturday, the Lady Warriors participated in a “Dig Pink” event at Southwestern Randolph and went 1-1 on the day. In a loss to Southwestern Randolph, Craft dished out 44 assists, ten digs, two aces, and one kill. Later that afternoon, the Warriors defeated Northwest Guilford 3-0 and Craft notched 15 assists, three digs, and one kill. On Tuesday, in a 3-0 conference win against Jordan-Matthews Craft finished with 14 assists, three digs, three aces, and one kill. One night later in a win against Southern Guilford, she dished out 25 assists, six digs, four aces, and three kills.

Craft has been a consistent player for the Warriors all season and looks to continue her outstanding play as the Warriors head into the postseason. On the season, she has 566 assists, 182 digs, 44 aces, and 28 kills. Wheatmore will need her strong play if they hope to make a deep run in the postseason.

Congratulations to Kaleigh Craft on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week!”
