Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” Kesley Nance

Stephanie King

Another week of high school sports is in the books and it is time for this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week!” One team had a strong week picking up two wins and one loss. The team was led by a strong senior who put up incredible numbers throughout the week. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Asheboro’s, Kesley Nance.

Nance, a senior setter, helped lead the Asheboro Blue Comets to a 2-1 finish on the week with wins over Page and Walter Williams. On Tuesday in a 3-0 win over Williams, Nance dished out 14 assists to lead the Comets. One night later she finished with 20 assists and six digs in a 3-2 win over Page. She continued her strong play on Thursday with 19 digs, 12 assists, and one ace in a 3-1 loss to Southwestern Randolph. Her greatest attribute for the Blue Comets is one that will not show up in the box score. Her hustle and willingness to dive on the floor have been key in the Blue Comets’ strong start to the season. As a senior, she will be looked upon as a leader throughout the season and will be a key contributor as the Comets move deeper into conference play.

Congratulations to Kesley Nance on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week!”
