Mid-State Toyota Athlete of the Week Megan Banker

Stephanie King

Each week here at MyRandolphSports.com, we select a student-athlete(s) to be the Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week”. We look long and hard at the performances from the week to select the best candidate. The selection for this week helped her team to a 2-0 mark the week in both conference and non-conference action. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Asheboro’s Megan Banker.

Banker is a senior two-sport athlete for the Asheboro Blue Comets in volleyball and softball. She is a four-year member of the volleyball program and has only gotten better with each passing season. She has helped lead the Blue Comets to a 13-1 record on the season with a 7-0 start in Mid-Piedmont Conference play. Her hard work and dedication to volleyball can be seen each game.

This past week she helped the Blue Comets picked up wins over the Providence Grove Patriots and the Southeast Guilford Falcons. In Wednesday’s match against the Patriots, Banker recorded 9 kills, 2 blocks and 5 aces. One night later she picked up 11 kills, 4 blocks, and 2 aces against Southeast Guilford. Banker is a dominate forced up front for the Blue Comets and can send powerful kills across the net when her team needs a point. Banker’s teammates are key in putting the ball in the right spot for her to put down the kill. Every win the Blue Comets have this season are truly a team effort. This group of ladies is a strong team and have a very bright future ahead of them.

Congratulations to Asheboro’s Megan Banker on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week”!
