Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” Tay Little

Stephanie King

With only a few games this week there were not as many athletes on the field, but that did not stop athletes from putting on quite a show. One athlete in particular turned up the heat in his team’s final game of the regular season and led them to key conference win. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Trinity’s Tay Little.

Little is a senior CB and WR for the Bulldogs. He is a three-year member of the varsity football program and has only gotten better with each passing season. He led the Bulldogs to a 6-5 regular season record with hopes of earning a spot in the state playoffs. This past week he led the Bulldogs to a 47-37 win over the Eastern Randolph Wildcats on the road. Little exploded in the game for six rushing touchdowns and 247 rushing yards on 23 carries. He scores six of the Bulldogs seven touchdowns to keep Trinity in control. Four of his six touchdowns came in the first half of play. Three of his touchdowns came on runs of forty-eight yards or more.

In the Bulldogs’ first eight games of the season, Little has rushed for 624 yards on 107 carries with 11 touchdowns. He has recorded 128 yards on kick returns, 16 on punt returns, and 11 on receptions for a total of 779 yards. Defensively, he has recorded 20 solo tackles and 11 assisted tackles for a total of 31 tackles in the first eight games of the season. If the Bulldogs make the post season, then they will need Little to produce like he did on Friday.

Congratulations to Tay Little on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week”!
