Stephanie King

With the regular season winding down, teams and players are making one final push to better their seeding in the post season. This past week players gave it their all, but one came up big to lead her team to victory. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Randleman’s Taylor Gantt.

Gantt, a sophomore, has been a leader for the Tigers this season and she came up big this week to help her team to a big win. Earlier in the week, she was help to under ten points in games against High Point Andrews and Wheatmore, but she responded on Friday when her team needed her too. It was senior night at Randleman on Friday and she helped make sure the it was not spoiled by the Trinity Bulldogs. She scored 21 points by halftime and drained 5 of the Tigers 7 first half threes. She would finish the game with 35 points including five crucial free throws in overtime.

She has shown her skill on the court the past two years and she can only get better during her next two years. She is a hard to stop player both offensively and defensively. The Tigers will look to her these next two weeks as they close out the regular season and head into the PAC-7 conference tournament.

Congratulations to Taylor Gantt on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week”!
