Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” Tyler Hammonds

The 2018-2019 varsity basketball season kicked off this past week and a couple of county teams started the season off strong. One team picked up a pair of wins and one player was a key reason why. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Trinity’s Tyler Hammonds.

Hammonds, a two-sport athlete for the Bulldogs, helped Trinity to a 2-0 start to the season as they picked up wins over Oak Grove and Southwestern Randolph. In the season opener against Oak Grove, he notched 12 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists as the Bulldogs won 57-41. One night later, the Bulldogs earned a 63-47 win over Southwestern Randolph and Hammonds finished with 11 points and eight rebounds. He is a strong defender for the Bulldogs and makes the necessary hustle plays to give the Bulldogs an advantage. His strong start to the season should have Bulldog Nation excited for the rest of the season. Hammonds will be a player opposing teams will need to watch out for as he can get the job done on both ends of the floor.

Congratulations to Tyler Hammonds on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week!”
