With regular seasons over teams set their sights on post season tournaments in hopes of extending their season just a little bit longer. Players have stepped up all week to try and help their team advance. One player got going early this week and carried the momentum through the week. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Southwestern Randolph Middle School’s Tyler Parks.

Parks has been a strong hitter for the Cougars all season and came up big this week as the they made their presence known in the middle school baseball tournament. On Monday in the final regular season game the Cougars earned a 17-0 win over NAMS. Parks would earn a triple, a double, an RBI, and a run scored in the win for the Cougars. One night later he helped the Cougars to a win over SAMS in the first round of the tournament.

On Thursday, Parks went all out as the Cougars defeated NERMS 9-1 in the first semifinal. He finished with 5 hits on day including two triples, one double, and one home run. He scored three runs and picked up two RBIs in the win. SWRMS will need Parks to state hot at the plate as they face off against top seeded ATMS in the championship game on Monday.

Congratulations to Tyler Parks on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week”!
