Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” Wyatt Garrison

Jesse Terrell

Week two of the high school sports season is officially in the books. There were several great performances this past week that lead to some great wins. One team remained undefeated picking up their fourth and fifth wins of the season. This week’s player of the week has been consistent for his team all season and has come up big several times. Wheatmore’s Wyatt Garrison is this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week”.

Garrison is a senior striker for the Warriors’ varsity boys’ soccer team. He has helped Wheatmore to a 5-0 start this season and he will be key as they work through the season. This past week Garrison scored seven goals for sixteen points and dished out two assists. On Tuesday, Garrison led the Warriors to a 9-0 win over East Davidson with five goals, one assist, and eleven points. Two days later he scored two goals, one assist, and five points.

Last week he scored eight goals, nineteen points, and three assists. He has put on a show for the Warriors’ fans so far this season, averaging three goals per game. He has scored a total of fifteen goals on forty-four shot attempts this season. The Warriors are looking like a strong team and if Garrison continues to play the way he has been, then Wheatmore might just be the team to beat when conference play starts.

Congratulations to Wheatmore’s Wyatt Garrison on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week”!
