Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” Zack Lambeth

It is time for this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week”. The rain forced several teams to cancel or postpone games this week, but that didn’t stop players from playing hard on the days they got to play. One player helped his team to a 2-1 record this week and came up big at the plate. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Trinity’s Zack Lambeth.

Lambeth, a senior, can play multiple positions for the Bulldogs baseball team and his versatility has come in handy for the Bulldogs. This past week, he helped Trinity to wins over Glenn and High Point Andrews before falling at home against Eastern Randolph. In the 8-2 win over Glenn on Saturday, Lambeth went 2-for-3 the plate with a double, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored. A few days later, the Bulldogs routed Andrews 20-0 and Lambeth finished a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with a double, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored.

So far, this season, Lambeth 21-for-48 at the plate with 7 doubles, 14 RBIs, and 12 runs scored. He has a .435 batting average on the season and a .645 slugging percentage. He has a career batting average of .276, but he has shown improvement each season. The little things done by Lambeth have helped the Bulldogs to an 8-9 record on the season with just a few weeks left in the season.

Congratulations to Zack Lambeth on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week”!
