Mid-State Toyota “Athletes of the Week” Eastern Randolph softball & Randleman baseball

The regular season for high school sports officially came to an end this week as teams geared up for their conference tournaments. Two teams from Randolph County battled their way through the conference tournaments and took home to tournament title. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athletes of the Week” are the Eastern Randolph softball team and the Randleman Tigers baseball team.

The Lady Wildcats of Eastern Randolph finished the regular season tied for first place in the PAC-6 conference with the Providence Grove Patriots. The Wildcats ended up being the number two seed in the conference tournament, earning an automatic bye into the semifinals. Eastern Randolph faced off against the Randleman Tigers in the semifinals and recorded an 11-0 win to advance to the championship game. The Wildcats battled with the number one seeded Patriots in the championship game and ended up edging out the Patriots7-6 for the title. It was an entire team effort for the Wildcats as they earned their second straight PAC-6 softball tournament championship.

Randleman headed into the PAC-6 baseball tournament as they number two seed after tying with the Eastern Randolph Wildcats for first place during the regular season. The Tigers got an automatic bid into the semifinals and faced the Trinity Bulldogs. Randleman posted a 6-0 win over the Bulldogs to set up a date with the Wildcats in the championship game. The title game was close early on, but the Tigers eventually pulled away for a 6-1 win to earn their third straight PAC-6 baseball tournament title. The Tigers defense was key down the stretch in the championship game as they forced the Wildcats to leave several runners stranded on base.
