Mid-State Toyota “Athletes of the Week” Jackson Jones and Jacob Marcrum

Another week has come and gone. The fall sports season is coming to an end and teams are making one final push before playoffs start in a few weeks. One team this week picked up a big over a conference opponent and two players are a big reason why. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athletes of the Week” are Providence Grove’s Jackson Jones and Jacob Marcrum.

Jones, a senior slotback and cornerback, has been a leader for the Patriots all season. He may not be the one scoring all of the touchdowns, but Jones does a lot of the little things that help the Patriots win. On Thursday in the Patriots first ever win over High Point Andrews, Jones got the Patriots going early as he scored on a 42-yard interception return for an 8-0 Providence Grove lead. He then converted on two of three extra points attempts for the Patriots. On the season, he has a 90% PAT kicking percentage.

Marcrum, a junior wide receiver and tight end, has had strong performances in the Patriots last two wins and had an impressive game this week against High Point Andrews. He exploded for 107 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the 28-12 win over Andrews on Thursday. It took him just eleven carries to gain all of that yardage. He added two touchdowns and a two-point conversion completion in the win. He was a key reason the Patriots earned their first ever win over the Red Raiders of Andrews.

Congratulations to Jackson Jones and Jacob Marcrum on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athletes of the Week!”
