NAMS Boys shutout UR

Thursday afternoon the Comets of NAMS hosted the Uwharrie Ridge Timberwolves for a matchup in middle school soccer.

Leading things off were the Timberwolves as they took the first touch on the ball. Charging the ball right away were the Comets as they stole the ball and took it straight to the goal for an attempt. Uwharrie was there for the save. Six minutes into the game Kevin Sanchez was able to get a clean shot and made the first goal of the night for the Comets. Uwharrie allowed the Comets to continue to step to the ball as Sanchez made his second goal of the night. Just minutes later Diego Gutierrez was given a run with the ball as he surpassed the goalie for a goal. The Timberwolves defense allowed the Comets to score once more as they made it a 4-0 game. NAMS allowed the Timberwolves to take touches at the ball as they got an attempt at the goal but came up short. With less than five minutes left in the first half, NAMS was able to pull ahead 6-0 off of goals from Saul Trinidad and Diego Varona. At the half, NAMS led 6-0.

Beginning the second half were the Comets as they wasted no time getting the ball down the field. Uwharrie stepped up in the second half as they took more touches with the ball. Both teams played hard in the second half as they both fought over the ball. Uwharrie took multiple attempts at the goal but came up short. With 11 minutes left on the clock, NAMS made their seventh goal of the night. Two minutes later a penalty was called on the Timberwolves as Varona took the penalty shot and scored to give NAMS an 8-0 lead. Uwharrie was unable to hold the Comets as Daniel Valencia put the ball in the back of the net to make it a 9-0 game. This one would end early as NAMS earned a 9-0 win over Uwharrie Ridge.
