NAMS Lady Comets top UR

Thursday afternoon the Lady Comets of NAMS hosted the Uwharrie Ridge Lady Timberwolves for a middle school matchup in soccer.

Leading things off in the first half were the Comets as they took the first touch on the ball. The Timberwolves allowed the Comets to dribble right around them as they took the first attempt at the goal. Uwharrie’s goalie was there for the save. Throughout the first half, both teams stepped to the ball as they went back and forth with touches. NAMS gained control and put the ball into scoring range before Celeste Gutierrez scored off an assist eighteen minutes into the half for the Comets. The Timberwolves gained control of the ball as they were able to make an attempt at the goal but came up short. With seconds left in the first half, Gutierrez struck again to put NAMS in front 2-0 at the half.

Beginning the second half was Uwharrie as they took the first touch on the ball. NAMS wasted no time as they stepped to the ball and gain control. The Comets made their way downfield with the ball for their first attempt at the goal. The Timberwolves were there for the save as they kept the score at 2-0. Uwharrie allowed the Comets to beat them to the ball as they dribbled straight to the net. Midway through the second quarter, Itzel Macias took a penalty kick for the Comets as she laid the ball in the corner for a goal. NAMS took a 3-0 lead. The Timberwolves didn’t give up as they pushed forward and Jackie Martinez made a goal for Uwharrie. NAMS was able to hold the Timberwolves as they took a 3-1 victory.
