After two days of tournament play, the PAC-7 softball tournament championship came down to the top-seeded Eastern Randolph Lady Wildcats and the third-seeded Providence Grove Patriots.

Providence Grove opened the game with a quick out in the top of the first before giving up a base hit to Aniyah King. With two outs, Brooklyn Rush earned a free base after getting hit by a pitch. The Patriots ended the top of the first with a strikeout. Eastern Randolph came out ready to play defense forcing the Lady Patriots to go three up three down in the bottom of the first. After one complete this one was still tied at zero.

Providence Grove followed in Eastern Randolph’s footsteps forcing the Wildcats to go three up three down in the top of the second. In the bottom of the second, Logan Cockman led things off with a solo hit for the Lady Patriots. Carson Williams picked up a base hit to put runners on first and second. With runners in scoring position, Madison Taylor stepped in the box for a hit to load the bases. Eastern Randolph picked up a strikeout for out number one before giving up a two-RBI double to Ali Young. The Patriots took a 2-0 lead. The Wildcats were able to get out of the inning leaving two runners stranded. After two complete innings, Providence Grove led 2-0.

In the top of the third Providence Grove forced the Wildcats into another three up three down inning. Eastern Randolph returned the favor in the bottom of the third. Providence Grove continued to lead 2-0 after three innings.

Kelsey Craven earned a free base at the start of the fourth after taking one for the team. The Patriots finished out the inning leaving Craven on base. Eastern Randolph kept strong holding the Patriots with three straight outs.

The Patriots gained two back to back outs to start the top of the fifth before hitting Halie Abrams with a pitch for a free base. Providence Grove finished the inning with one runner stranded. Once again in the bottom of the fifth Eastern Randolph gained three straight outs. After five innings, the Patriots still held a 2-0 lead.

King led off the top of the six with a base hit for the Lady Wildcats. Providence Grove kept pushing as they followed the hit by King with three straight outs. In the bottom of the sixth Makayla McClain got on base for Providence Grove but was left stranded as Eastern Randolph ended the inning. The Patriots were still in control 2-0 after six innings of play.

Providence Grove picked up back to back outs to start the top of the seventh before giving up back to back base hits to Leighanna Ward and Gerrilyn Milligan. Providence Grove finished the game leaving both runners on base. The Patriots defeated the Wildcats 2-0 to win the 2019 PAC-7 softball tournament title.
