PG’s Needham to play baseball at Western Carolina

Providence Grove senior Drew Needham signed his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday to play baseball for the Western Carolina Catamounts next year. Needham is a two-sport athlete for the Patriots as a member of both the football and baseball teams.

In three seasons on the varsity baseball team, Needham has played in 56 games picking up 56 hits, 58 runs, 46 RBIs, and 19 stolen bases. Last season, he led the Patriots to a 16-9 record and a second-round appearance in the 2A State Baseball Playoffs. He got the job done at the plate for the Patriots picking up 31 runs and 23 RBIs on 24 hits. He also finished the season with seven home runs. He will be a key leader for the Patriots this season as they look to challenge for the PAC-7 championship and a spot in the state playoffs.
