After a week off for Spring break, the Randleman Lady Tigers soccer team was back in action on Monday night as they hosted conference rival Providence Grove.

The visitors, Providence Grove, got first touch on the ball as they tried to make their way down field. The Tigers’ defense took control of the ball sending it down to the other end of the field for the offense. Randleman wasted no time getting the ball down field as they took their first attempt at the goal. Both teams looked good early on as they both fought for possession and made clean passes. Providence Grove’s defense could not hold the Tigers as they continued to find decent looks at the goal. Twenty-two minutes into the first half Ashley Garcia scored for the Tigers with the assist from Mackenzie Allison. Towards the end of the first half, the Patriots took more control as they found a couple of good looks at the goal. Unfortunately, the Patriots would be unable to score as Randleman led 1-0 at halftime.

Randleman had the first touch of the ball to start the second of play, but the Patriots came out ready to play. The Tigers’ offense was no match for the Patriots defense as they were able to set the ball up into scoring position several times. Providence Grove’s goalie did her job and made several key saves to keep the Patriots close. Both teams found their way to the goal and had some clean looks, but neither would be able to score. Randleman tried to put another ball into the back of the net for a little breathing room as this one was coming to an end, but they could get the right look at the goal. Providence Grove could not score during the final minutes as the Tigers claimed a 1-0 victory over the Patriots.
