Signing day came early for one Randolph County student-athlete as Randleman Highs School’s Charley Butler made the decision to continue her softball career at the University of Louisville next year. Butler signed her Nation Letter of Intent on Thursday to make the decision official.

Butler is a three-year starter on the Randleman varsity softball team at short stop as well as the Randolph Knockouts travel team. She has put up some decent numbers during her time in a Tigers’ uniform. She has a .783 fielding percentage and has been known to do some damage at the plate. She has 15 stolen bases and 20 runs scored under her belt in school ball last season. She is a 2-time All-Conference and a 2-time All-County selection. She was also named Defensive Player of the Year. For the Knockouts, she finished last season with 10 home runs, 40 runs scored, 20 stolen bases and a .846 fielding percentage. Butler was named MVP of several tournaments while playing with the Knockouts. The Cardinals are getting a great athlete, but also a great student. Butler is a member of the National Honors Society and the Beta Club. She has earned honor roll honors during each of her four years in high school.

She is not the only member of her family to play college softball as her older sister, Chelsey Butler, played at UNC Chapel Hill.

Everyone here at MyRandolphSports would like to congratulate Charley on this outstanding achievement and wish her the best of luck next year.
