SAMS run rules RMS

Wednesday afternoon the RMS Tigers hosted the Blue Comets of SAMS for a middle school matchup in softball.

Randleman began the top of the first with a strikeout. Allen steps to the plate as she took one for the team as she took a pitch to the side. The Tigers picked up the second out as Allen advanced to third base. Allen stole home as the ball got by the catcher to put SAMS on the board. Coward sent the ball into center field as she gained a double. RMS left Coward on base as they finished the inning. SAMS also started the bottom of the first with a strikeout. Jordan Booker was able to pick up a base hit for the Tigers. Up next was Savannah Scott as she slammed the ball to the outfield for an RBI double to send Booker home. RMS kept the bats going as Gracyn Hall got a solo hit and behind her was Mackenzie. Roach as she hit an RBI double. The Tigers took a 3-1 lead. K. Varner picked up an RBI single as Roach scored for Randleman. SAMS finished the first inning with a strikeout. After one complete inning, the Tigers lead 4-1.

Hildreth took ball four to start the Comets in the top of the second. Randleman gained three back to back outs to get out of the inning. SAMS had a quick bottom of the second as they forced the Tigers to go three up three down.

In the top of the third Perdue stepped to the plate and slammed the ball into the outfield. Due to an error on the Tigers Perdue crossed home plate to make it a 2-4 game. RMS gained back to back outs. Picking up her second hit of the game was Coward. The Tigers finished the inning leaving Coward stranded.  Once again in the bottom of the third SAMS forced the Tigers into a one, two, three inning. After three complete innings, Randleman led 4-2.

In the top of the fourth Hildreth was pitched ball four as she took first base. RMS picked up three straight outs leaving Hildreth on base. SAMS began the bottom of the fourth with an out. Elizabeth York came to the plate and drew a walk to give the Tigers a base runner. The Comets left York on base as they finished the inning with back to back outs. After four complete innings, RMS led 4-2.

Leading things off in the top of the fifth was Perdue as she got a solo hit. Up next was Allen as she hit an RBI single that sent Perdue home. Lee was able to get an in the park homer due to an error on the Tigers. SAMS took their first lead of the night as they made it a 5-4 game. Picking up back to back base hits were Coward and Davis. Randleman was able to get their first out of the inning. Dawley, Perdue, and Allen all got RBIs as they put SAMS up 11-4. Lee sent a triple into left field as she sent Allen and Lee home. The Tigers finished the top of the fifth as they allowed the Comets to take a 14-4 lead. SAMS finished strong as they gained three strikeouts in a row to run-rule the Tigers in the bottom of the fifth. The Comets defeated the Tigers 14-4.
