SAMS sweeps NAMS

The SAMS Lady Comets hosted the NAMS Lady Comets in a middle school volleyball doubleheader on Thursday afternoon. SAMS came into Thursday’s doubleheader with a 2-2 record, while NAMS came in at 1-3.

SAMS opened the first set of the first match with a 4-0 run. NAMS ended the run, but SAMS continued to maintain their lead. SAMS led 6-3 before NAMS scored back to back points to cut the lead to one. This one stayed close and NAMS eventually tied the set at 15 all. SAMS would stay in control and take the first set 25-18.

The second set was much different than the first as SAMS jumped out to a commanding lead and never let go. SAMS led 7-1 and eventually pushed their lead out to 15-4. NAMS picked up three back to back points to cut the lead to eight. SAMS pushed their lead back into double-digits on their way to a 25-16 win. SAMS won the first match 2 sets to 0.

SAMS continued their momentum into the first set of the second match as they took an early 10-0 lead. NAMS would score, but SAMS pushed the lead out to 14-2. Another run by SAMS gave them a 19-2 lead. NAMS tried to fight their way back into this one and even outscored SAMS 9-6 during the final minutes of the set. SAMS would take the set 25-14.

NAMS took the first point of the second set, but that would be the last lead they had. SAMS built an 11-4 lead and were poised to make it a clean sweep. The SAMS Comets outscored NAMS 6-5 for a 17-9 lead midway through the set. SAMS eventually took a double-digit lead and took the set 25-12. They won the match 2 sets to 0.
