Scoreboard 4/4: Wheatmore girls, PG boys earn PAC-7 track win

The Wheatmore Warriors hosted Providence Grove, Eastern Randolph, and Jordan-Matthews for PAC-7 Conference track meet on Thursday. Wheatmore took home first place in the girls’ division, while Providence Grove earned first in the boys’ division.

Notable Finishes:

-Alex Trexler (WHS) finished first in both the shot put and discus, setting a new school record with his discus throw of 130 feet, 9 inches
-Xavier Foust (PG) took first in both the boys’ triple jump and boys’ long jump
-Amya Brooks (ER) placed first in the girls’ triple jump, long jump, and high jump
-Morgan Cunha (WHS) finished 2nd in the 800 meter run and 1st in the 1600 meter run, setting a new school record with her time of 6:09


Blue Comet golf takes 2nd in MPC match

The Asheboro Blue Comets took home second place in a Mid-Piedmont Conference golf match on Thursday at Tot Hill Farm. Asheboro (168) fell just ten strokes behind the match winner Williams (158). Southern Alamance (178), Southeast Guilford (183), Southwestern Randolph (215), and Eastern Guilford (231) rounded out the rest of the field.

PG golf takes PAC-7 match

The Providence Grove Patriots finished five strokes ahead of the Wheatmore Warriors to take home first place in a PAC-7 golf match on Thursday. PG finished with a score of 173, while Wheatmore came in a close second with a 179. Randleman (181), Eastern Randolph (188), and Trinity (191) round out the rest of the field. Eastern Randolph’s Landon Collins and Wheatmore’s Jake Clodfelter earned co-medalist honors after both golfers finished with a score of 38.
