Scoreboard 5/1: Lady Warriors track finishes fourth in PAC-7 meet, SWR Tennis falls

The Lady Warriors of Wheatmore track and field team picked up fourth place at the PAC-7 Conference Championship on Wednesday. The Warrior men finished sixth.

Outstanding Warrior Performances:

Neva Hippert finished 1st in the pole vault, 2nd in the 400-meter dash, 2nd in the 800-meter run, and 4th in the long jump.
Madelyn McQuaigue finished 4th in the 400-meter dash.
Morgan Cunha finished 3rd in the 1600 meter run and 4th in the 3200-meter run.
Lindsay Hazelwood finished 3rd in the 3200-meter run.
Rosie Langendorfer finished 2nd in the 100-meter hurdles and 4th in the 300-meter hurdles.
Caleb Gundaker finished 4th in the 400-meter dash.
Jordan Kight finished 3rd in the triple jump and set a school record with his jump of 41 feet 3.5 inches.
Alex Trexler finished 1st in the shot throw and set a school record with his throw of 52 feet 3 inches. Alex also finished 2nd in the discus throw.

The Warriors now wait to see if they have any team members make regionals. Regional qualifiers will be announced on Monday.


Cougars tennis falls in 3A dual team competition

The Southwestern Randolph Cougars’ tennis team fell 5-1 to Cox Mill on Wednesday in the first round of the 3A dual team competition. Senior Wes Koehler earned the lone win for the Cougars in singles action.

Koehler along with the doubles teams of Dylan Sweet and Braylen Beason and Ben Cross and Alex Mercado will travel to Concord on Friday to compete at regionals.
