Eastern Randolph vs Wheatmore Girls Basketball CT Tournament Rd 1 Gm 4

The Eastern Randolph Wildcats fought off a pesky Wheatmore Warriors team for a 60-47 win to advance to the semifinals of the Courier Tribune Christmas Invitational. Wheatmore put the first points on the board, but after that it was Eastern Randolph. The Wildcats took a 19-8 lead heading in to the second quarter. The Warriors would stay close, but never could fight their way back into the lead during the first half. At the half, Eastern Randolph led 29-24.

Wheatmore battled their way back into the lead during the third quarter. Eastern Randolph did not let the Warriors run away with it as they calmly retook control of the game to lead 39-37 heading into the fourth quarter. The Wildcats maintained their lead and held off the Warriors. Top scorers or the Wildcats were Taylor Hatchet with 22 points, Aniyah King with 16 points, and Tehya Jordan with 9 points. For the Warriors it was Skylar Swaney leading the way with 15 points, while Sarbrina Tucker helped out with 13 points. Neva Hippert finished with 10 points.

Eastern Randolph will match up against the Southwestern Randolph Cougars on Friday in the second semifinal of the Courier Tribune Christmas Invitational at 7:30PM.
