Providence Grove vs Wheatmore Softball PAC-6 Semifinals

The Lady Patriots of Providence Grove needed eleven innings to defeated the pesky Wheatmore Warriors 8-7 in the first semifinal of the PAC-6 softball tournament on Tuesday. The Patriots led 2-0 after the first innings and then took a 5-2 lead heading in the fourth. Wheatmore inched closer in the fourth as they outscored PG 2-0 to cut the lead to one. The Warriors tied the game at 5 all in the fifth and once again held the Patriots scoreless. Each team scored on run in the ninth to tie the game at 6 all. The game was still tied 6-6 heading into the eleventh inning, but the Patriots outscored the Warriors 2-1 for the win. A walk-off single from Logan Cockman would win it for the Patriots. Cockman and Alli Young each went 3-for-6 at the plate with 1 run scored, while Anna Thomas and Tatum Smith each went 2-for-4. Thomas picked up 2 RBIs and scored 1 run. Freshman Makenna Sibbett picked up the pitching win for the Patriots in six innings. She gave up 7 hits and struck out 1.

For the Warriors, Abbey Parrish went 2-for-3 with 1 run scored and 3 RBIs. Skylar Swaney went 4-for-6 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.
