Wheatmore run rules Trinity

Thursday night the Trinity Lady Bulldogs hosted the Wheatmore Lady Warriors for a matchup in varsity softball.

Leading things off in the top of the first was Kailey Wilbanks and Skylar Swaney as they both picked up back to back base hits. Kaleigh Craft got an RBI double to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead. Trinity picked up the first out of the inning before giving up an RBI single to Emily Lane that sent Kendall Lewis home to score. The Bulldogs gained two outs in a row to end the inning. In the bottom of the first, Savanah Fauber picked up a base hit. On the next play, the Warriors turned a double play to put pressure on the Bulldogs. Taking ball four was Kara Henderson as she made her way to first base. Christen Rosenbaum advanced the runner into scoring position with a base hit. Wheatmore got out of the inning leaving both runners stranded. After one complete inning, Wheatmore led 3-0.

Kynnedy Thrift began the top of the second by drawing a walk before the Bulldogs got the first out of the inning. With one out, Haven Dykes laid down the bunt to advance the runner. Trinity gave up two RBI’s in a row to Wilbanks and Swaney. The Warriors were able to make it a 5-0 game. Up next was Craft as she slammed the ball into center field to send Wilbanks home. With two outs, the Bulldogs allowed one more RBI from London Avant. Trinity finished out the top of the first with the final out after giving up four runs. In the bottom of the second, the Warriors wasted no time as they forced the Bulldogs to go three up three down. After two complete innings, the Warriors led 7-0.

Right away in the top of the third, the Bulldogs picked up an out. Wilbanks picked up a double before Swaney came up to bat and gained another RBI giving the Warriors eight runs. The Warriors kept the bats going as Craft hit an RBI single that sent Wilbanks across home plate. Loading the bases was Abbey Parrish as she got a base hit. Slamming an two-RBI single into left field was Lane as she sent Lewis and Trudy Mae Payne home. Trinity finally got the third out of the inning as the Warriors led 12-0. Wheatmore began the bottom of the third with a strikeout before giving up a solo hit to Fauber. The Warriors ended the inning with back to back outs. Wheatmore led 12-0 after three innings.

The Bulldogs started the top of the fourth with a strikeout before giving up a base hit to Wilbanks. Taking one for the team was Payne as she was hit by a pitch. Picking up two RBI’s in a row were Craft and Parrish. After two outs, Payne tagged up as she slid into home plate to give the Warriors a 14-0 lead. The Bulldogs got the final two outs to end the inning. Wheatmore finished the fourth inning with three outs in a row. The Warriors led 14-0 after four innings.

Isabelle Albertson led things off in the top of the fifth as she was hit with a pitch. Trinity got the first out of the inning with a pop-up. Up next was Lewis as she picked up an RBI double to score Albertson. The Bulldogs picked up back to back outs to get out of the inning. In the bottom of the fifth, the Warriors got two strikeouts in a row to begin the inning. Fauber and Carly Fields both got back to back base hits to lead off the Bulldogs. Wheatmore held the runners as they finished the inning with another strikeout. Wheatmore run ruled the Bulldogs 15-0.
